Stop Smoking The Easy Way With EFT Tapping

Posted by – October 25, 2014

Stopping smoking is not normally an easy task for most of us mere mortals. And I am sure Superman does not smoke and has therefore never had the disappointment of trying then starting again. Think about it this way, though; most smokers stop every day, when they are asleep. Therefore it is possible.

So if you are thinking of quitting, have a look at these tips from my clinical experience with EFT and successful stop-smoking sessions. See how you feel about moving forward.

Smoking itself is not because of lack of willpower. You have the willpower to read this article. So you have the willpower to try different ways of quitting until you stop smoking for good.

You can set a stop smoking date and stick to it. Alternatively, you can reduce by 1-5 cigarettes a week and stop more gradually. Whichever strategy works best for you is fine.

Taking nicotine in any other form is still being addicted to it. Do not fool yourself that you have stopped if you have merely switched addictions or habits.

If you worry about weight gain, then surely you are using the cigarettes as an appetite suppressant. This is where a method like EFT can help. EFT goes to the roots of why there is a tendency to overeat, and removes those feelings from your mind-body. Then you no longer need to smoke to control your weight.

If you worry about cravings or a smoking desire, EFT is the easiest way I know of for releasing them on minutes. It usually takes less time to release a smoking craving with EFT than it takes to actually smoke a cigarette. So you can see why EFT makes sense.

And if you have stopped before but became moody or irritable, EFT is great for that. With EFT, we say that the moodiness or irritability was self-medicated away by the smoking. So if you stop smoking without releasing the underling uncomfortable emotions, then they simply make themselves known. It is better to use EFT for those feelings before stopping smoking. Then quitting should be easy.

EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques and is the moat effective long-term results method that I know of for giving up smoking. Otherwise known as Tapping, EFT is a specific combination of self-applied easy acupressure and specific releasing wording. This combination is what makes EFT so powerful.

Maybe you can write a list of what you hope to achieve when you stop smoking. Make a list of all the positives. Then armed with that list, go seek out a good Stop Smoking EFT book, program, or practitioner. Enjoy your freedom!

This Stop Smoking Expert’s Prayer Discussion With Shopkeeper

This Stop Smoking Expert’s Erm, Heated, Prayer Discussion With Shopkeeper…

The Muslim shopkeeper nearest to my healing studio, otherwise a very nice man, whose hard work and dedication I truly appreciate, tried to get me to buy a packet of cigarettes. He is a very good salesman and I am sure he has persuaded many a would-be quitter to start again. Now here’s the thing, this is the second time he has tried it with me whilst the Islamic prayer was playing on his radio warning against the devil and doing the devil’s work. The first time, I just laughed and took the story to the security guard at work and we had a good laugh about it  😀 This time, well, it was too early in the morning for me to be ultra democratic, so I found myself telling him: “You need to make a choice. Your radio is warning against doing the devil’s work and you are doing just that by pushing cigarettes onto people who don’t want them. Either you turn the prayer off, stop pretending to be religious and push the cigarettes on anyone you like, or you listen to God’s word and put those cigarettes away.”

He put the cigarettes away. The look on his face was priceless. I hope this made him think twice that the words in the prayer are sacred, they are not just words. He can sell healthier things.

There you go. I say it how it is.

Stop Smoking EFT Tapping – Continuing Success

Posted by – July 12, 2011

More and more people are seeing the benefits of stopping smoking using EFT, or Emotional Freedom Techniques. “Marcelle” (not her real name) started seeing me after two of her relatives quit with me in Cape Town. One quit in 2 sessions, and the other quit in 3. Marcelle´s daughter had also seen me for EFT, and she is doing great. Marcelle´s stop-smoking journey is a little more challenging, but she likes doing it with EFT, because she is loving the side benefits of this method.

Marcelle arrived at her session with mainly good news. She is on my smoking-reduction plan, reducing the number of cigarettes smoked daily as her need for the habit declines with the EFT. This is what EFT does. It removes out of your system the irritation, nervousness, and other unpleasant feelings that are often mistaken for nicotine withdrawal. As an energy healer, it is my experience that these feelings are not nicotine withdrawal at all, but are the feelings that are conveniently drugged away by the nicotine whilst the person is smoking. When enough of these underlying unwanted feelings are removed with EFT, there is no longer a need to smoke, and the person quits smoking. Anyway, Marcelle´s plan in-between this and the previous session was a maximum of 6 cigarettes a day, and she had had days of 2 cigarettes and days of 5 cigarettes. This is good.

Amongst about 10 successes, there were a couple of hiccups. On two days, and only two days, since our last appointment 12 days previously, she had smoked an unusually high 10 cigarettes. So we set about working on those specific days. It transpired that on those days, her young children and her grandchildren, whom she was looking after during school holidays, were making a lot of noise, being over-active, and not wanting to go to bed after 9 pm. Marcelle would go and have a cigarette on those occasions, when the stress with all the children became too much for her. She did not enjoy those cigarettes but just reached out for them. “It’s a habit”, she said. I replied, as I tapped on her, that the habit was to reach out for a cigarette instead of using another coping strategy. I asked her on a scale of 10-0, if she were to relive that night, what number cigarette desire would she have? It was an 8. So we set about tapping. We tapped on aspects like “Even though they’re all so noisy, and it’s too overwhelming…”, “Even though they keep moving about, and it’s just too much energy to cope with…”, and “Even though they won’t listen…” and got it down to a 3 out of 10. Then we tapped around the thought that because her mother had abused her, Marcelle would never hit the children or shout at them. I suggested that maybe she felt like shouting but the cigarette calmed that down. Then we worked on better coping strategies for this situation. We found that an energy grounding visualization would be helpful, so we practised it in the session. The way it works is that Marcelle taps on her ColllarBone continuously without words, as she visualizes all the extra energy absorbed from the children flowing out of her body, from the top of her head, through the centre of her body, through her legs, through the soles of her feet, and into the ground. The energy would then be absorbed by Mother Earth, where it would be recycled into something more useful.

We worked in this way on the second children incident which triggered the second spike in Marcelle’s smoking. We got both of them down to about a zero. I then set Marcelle a new target of 2-5 cigarettes maximum a day. She happily and calmly accepted this new target. I gave her another progress sheet to fill in, and we had a pleasant conversation as she was on her way out. She is always relaxed after these sessions, and they are helping her to be a stronger and happier person overall. I love this added benefit of working with EFT. It strengthens you from deep within.

As well as EFT, Marcelle enjoyed a massage on this occasion. As a complementary health practitioner trained in the UK, I also do Deep Tissue Massage. Marcelle reported back pain when she walked, and so I gave her a back massage to start with. It only took 20 minutes of our session (my sessions are about 90-120 minutes each), and she reported much better ease of movement afterwards. Many thanks again to Marcelle for providing this case study so that others can benefit. you can follow Marcelle´s story on here. She will happily stop smoking completely. And I am so confident of her success that I am publishing her case study as it evolves.

If you attend a stop-smoking session with me, have an open mind and a willing heart. You too may end up with pleasantly surprising side-benefits!

How EFT and Kinesiology-Based Methods Are Better Than Even Hypnosis To Stop Smoking

Posted by – June 23, 2011

Welcome to the continuing story of “Marcelle” (not her real name), one determined ex-smoker-to-be slowly but surely overcoming a stubborn smoking addiction. To give you some background, I have a good history of helping smokers quit in one session in London and usually within 6 sessions in Cape Town (different cultural stresses). Marcelle’s relatives quit with me in 2-3 sessions, and she does understand the benefits of going at her own pace, which is relatively slower but a very healing process.

We are using a mixture of EFT, Emotional Freedom Techniques, or Tapping, and kinesiology-based muscle-testing and treatment. The treatment is gentle and removes the emotional reasons behind the smoking. As these are removed, Marcelle is able to smoke less. Every time that we can, we draw up a plan to cut down on the daily number of cigarettes smoked. The last target that Marcelle had was 7 cigarettes. It is the 10th session, and Marcelle showed me her progress sheet. She had stuck to her target 3 days out of 6. On one of the days, she even went below it. So we started with a quick analysis.

The first part of the analysis was talking about the progress sheet to identify areas that needed more work. The three days of smoking more had several stress and habit factors. The most important (in my experience) were the following:
* A visit to relatives who kept giving Marcelle cigarettes to smoke with them, saying “Oh, take a cigarette”.
* A day which started with Marcelle saying to herself “Today, I’m going to improve”.

Then I started the muscle-testing. We tested for a few things that came up not relevant, and then I asked Marcelle to repeat “I´m going to improve” whilst pressing on her arm. The arm went weak. In other words, there is something about “I am going to improve” that made Marcelle fail that day. We talked a bit about that and investigated the theme of the following ideas that Marcelle felt were related:
* “My mother never stops criticizing me, and so will not stop if I stop smoking, so what’s the point”.
* “I’m going to fail anyway, so I may as well fail now”.
* “No matter how much I improve, my mother will not love me”.

I then asked Marcelle to find a time in her life that encapsulates the above. She came up with a specific childhood memory that on the surface seemed totally unrelated. But it had many aspects of root causes of smoking. The story started when Marcelle had been given some money by a visiting uncle. The rule was that she had to hand that money over to her mother. But on that occasion, Marcelle, wanting to keep the money away from her abusive mother, left to the shop as soon as the uncle had left, and she bought a big bag of sweets with all the money. Upon her return, her mother threw her out on the porch in the dark. She was out there for several hours before her father came home and let her back in. The event started at an intensity of 8. We tapped in down to about a zero, tapping on all the following aspects:
* The hurt.
* That no matter what Marcelle did, she got a hiding from her mother, so she may as well be naughty anyway.
* The danger of being out alone in the dark as a helpless child.
* That she physically could not eat all those sweets, although she had them with her when she was thrown out, and her mother and sisters finished them afterwards.
* That her mother will never stop criticizing her.
* That her mother will never act proud of her or be approving of her.
* That her mother continues to treat her badly, in start contrast to the favored sister, who gets the good treatment.
* Smoking is a rebellion against her mother, who does not like her smoking.
* Guilt about not loving her mother like a daughter “should”.

By the end of this tapping, Marcelle was so relaxed she was almost asleep. We tested again for “I’m going to improve”, and it tested strong and clear.

We then tapped on other smoking issues, clearing them. And finally we muscle-tested for a new smoking reduction plan. Marcelle tested weak for 7 cigarettes a day and strong for 6 a day and 5 a day. This is good, meaning that she really did not want to smoke more than 6. So we drew up a new plan of a maximum of 6 a day.

The plan also includes exercise. As we were setting up the new version, Marcelle proudly announced that she had had to take her jeans in at the hips. Now how’s that for a great treatment? She is losing the cigarettes and weight! And she is overcoming the many years of abuse without any psychotherapy, without painful talking about the issue over and over again, nor anything like that. Every time she leaves her session, she feels lighter and stronger, her face radiant and calm. This is why I like this treatment so much; because it is holistic and gentle, the results far-reaching into every aspect of the person´s life and well-being. Now who do you know who did hypnosis-only and got these great additional results?! As always, I look forward to the next session!

Stop Smoking By Solving These Reasons

Posted by – March 28, 2011

So you want to stop smoking. It is good to take some time first to ask yourself why. The reasons why you want to stop can be a very strong incentive and motivation for you, and that is all good and well. But these are not the real reasons that I am talking about.

You may have expected to read motivation in this article to keep strong. For example, motivation about your health, your family, your looks, your teeth, all the money you will save, your smell, and your freedom from the constrictive habit, to name just a few of the common reasons. But just suspend your beliefs for a while and let me show you some other reasons.

* Smoking to relax.
* Smoking to de-stress.
* Smoking when bored at work.
* Smoking in order to go to the toilet in the morning.
* Smoking with your coffee, because the two have always gone so well together.
* Smoking with a friend.
* Smoking to rebel against a parent or teacher.
* Because it makes conversation easier in social situations.
* Because it helps you when you have a drink.
* Because it reminds you of the strong bond between you and your smoking family.
* Because it helps you concentrate on your work or studies.
* Because it is a luxury, and you deserve a treat.
* If you stop, you will eat and eat and put on weight.
* If you stop, you will feel nervous or anxious.
* If you stop, you may feel angry and irritable.
* If you stop, you may have difficulty sleeping.
* If you stop, you may feel deprived.
* If you stop, you may feel moody.

So, amongst these are reasons why you smoke. Armed with these reasons, and maybe a few more of your own, you now have a list of reasons that bind you to the smoking. Release these reasons, and you release that link to smoking. Every one of these reasons is a block in your path to success. But with the right techniques, you can bulldoze your way through and smash every block to smithereens! You can release every one of those reasons out of your system and break free!

The best method I know of to help you do just that is EFT, or Emotional Freedom Techniques. known also as Tapping, EFT uses a combination of acupressure and releasing wording to set you free the really easy way. It is suitable for almost everyone, unless you have schizophrenia or psychosis, in which case other methods are recommended, such as the gentler energy techniques like Reiki or Kinesiology. Whatever route you take, I wish you every success breaking through those reasons and reaching that beautiful place of freedom!

NLP and Hypnotherapy Modeling To Stop Smoking

Posted by – October 22, 2010

In NLP and Hypnosis it is a good common practice to model successful people to see what they are doing that makes them successful. And you may well say that these people are successful just because of their genes or because it is them. But you see, it is not that those successful people are better than the rest of us, but that in one particular area of their life that we are trying to emulate, they have it easy. No matter what the rest of their lives looks like, in that one area they achieve success without even thinking about it. Now we need to ask the question: What do those people do to become successful in that area that I can do to become successful too? And you can stop smoking by asking yourself what it is about people who have never smoked and are happy not smoking; what do they do that you can do?

One stop-smoking client answered this question for me very eloquently. She said that her husband, who has never smoked, usually speaks his mind, and sometimes gets angry or sulks, and then when he is happy, he thinks nothing of jumping up in the air or doing a little dance. She was actually not deliberately answering the question of why he was successful at being a non-smoker. She was complaining that he did not keep his emotions under super-tight control! I said to her that this is exactly what she should explore in herself, why she has to appear in control at all times and why she has to drug her emotions with nicotine. I explained that her husband is simply sharing his feelings and expressing himself, rather than forcing himself to keep a tight lid on them, and that is why he does not need a drug called nicotine, as he does not have a need to appear unemotional all the time.

The need to appear unemotional is one aspect of smoking. Sometimes, this need is not an over-the-top unnatural need, but a need to remain in control whilst some pretty scary emotions are threatening to come to the surface. And then, we can ask ourselves, what does a non-smoker do in these cases? Well, they deal with those emotions, so that there is no need to drug themselves with nicotine. Some take medication from the doctor for say, anxiety or depression, some go to a psychotherapist on a weekly basis, and some investigate some great new methods for release, such as Emotional Freedom Techniques, and let go of those overwhelming negative emotions forever.

Tapping, otherwise known as Emotional Freedom Techniques, or EFT, is a great way to release any emotional blocks in your way. And then you too can act like a non-smoker and so feel as relaxed as a non-smoker and become finally a calm non-smoker yourself. And the greatest benefit is that you can be totally in charge of the process itself.

How To Release The Need To Be Perfect And Stop Smoking

Posted by – October 12, 2010

An unhealthy need to be perfect may seem just a drive for excellence, but there is a difference. It is one thing to aim to get things right and be the best you can be, and quite another to feel under constant pressure to perform. And the stress of this pressure keeps many a perfectionist smoker struggling in vain to give up.

And most smokers with an unhealthy need to be perfect do not recognize where this difference lies. Typically, they report having a need to smoke or a habit of smoking. Part of the unhealthy need to be perfect I the denial of imperfection. However, there is a way to find out, and there is a solution.

To find out if you have this unhealthy need, simply ask yourself how true this statement is:

I must always be perfect.
Rate the Validity Of Cognition, or truth value of this statement from a 10 to zero, where 10 is totally true and zero is totally false.

If this statement is anything above a zero, then you have just found one big emotional belief that blocks your stop-smoking success. You can now release this belief with effective modern energy psychology methods such as EFT. As you EFT this statement, you may gain many insights and have events come up for healing. This is a great opportunity to release those insidious drivers of smoking that lurk under the surface.

The best results are achieved after every aspect of this statement is tapped down to a zero. And then, you will find quitting smoking a much easier process.
